A wide range of FC/PC - ST/PC mode conditioning patchcords, are only available in multimode and are supplied with a yellow and grey 2.8mm, 62.5/125 cable as standard, except for MTRJ, which are supplied with a 1.8mm cable. 50/125 and OM3 cable is available upon request.

What is a Mode Conditioning Patchcord?
A mode conditioning patchcord is designed for use in 62.5/125 or 50/125 multimode fibre-optic cabling systems, where these assemblies allow long wavelength 1300nm signals to be transmitted over fibre at distances of up to 550mtrs. Modern optical systems operating at 1Gb/s and above, need to be designed with signal dispersion in mind when transmission distances exceed the design limits for installed fibres. The preferred method of conditioning the transmitted signal is through the use of mode conditioned patchcords. Through use of assemblies the laser's transmitted signal is launched into a singlemode fibre that is offset spliced to a multimode fibre. This arrangement avoids the launch of signals into areas of the multimode fibre where refractive index anomalies cause differential mode delay with its associated loss of bandwidth in longer distance systems |
